So I think Forgotten Souls should not be the deciding factor, but rather what classes you have, if you have keys, and if you want materials or XP. And low GRs are much, much, much better for paragon (order of magnitude better). That being said, Forgotten Souls are rarely the bottle neck - blue mats, white mats, even Death Breath is what I'm running out of. Once you’re fighting in the middle of a Helltide, you can also run into demons known as Helltide Harbingers. These look like Ore Veins but will drop Forgotten Souls in addition to other materials. Once you reach the right zone, look for Screaming Hell Veins. I would speed run a GR you can consistently clear in 2-3 min. The only way to get Forgotten Souls is to complete Helltide activities in Diablo 4. You get gem levels, consistent legendaries, and the most blood shards which also give you a lot of souls. Another advantage of T6 is that you don't need to farm trial keys/low level keys (or don't need an "opener" if you want to leech and re-use one key), and you can run almost any class and lots of builds (whereas for low GRs you really want nothing but monk+barb+2DH). Greater rifts gives you the most overall benefit regardless if it’s the actual most. Use the cube to convert materials between white, blue and yellow. Wear Sage set to speed farm in bounties and rift for DB, gold and materials. Vaults are a decent source of junk legendaries and the occasional. If youre only t16 capable, then t16 neph rifts - make sure to open all chests as those seem to drop legendaries more than monsters. Opening these will give you some Forgotten Souls. These chests are mainly, helms, handguards, legguards, chest armor, rings, and boots. Open all the ’75’ chests around the Helltide area. At a GR 100 you should be getting like 10+ souls/run. To be extremely efficient, you should jump from pack to pack and collect all the Aberrant Cinders. Benefit is you get gem-ups along the way. I don't have actual numbers, but it's my subjective feeling. That effectively turns 25 Death’s Breaths into 1 Soul. If you can run GR 100 in 2-3 mins, then speed GRs. Full T6 clears can sometimes net you with 10-15 legendaries per run, especially if you get some goblins. I sometimes get 1-2, or even in rare cases zero legendaries from a GR35 clear, plus the rifts are so fast that you spend a significant amount of time waiting for the rift timer. I still think T6 full clears are the best for Forgotten Souls. We've done some speed GRs (~35 in an average of 2.5 minutes, everything between 1:40 and 4:20 to completion).
